Out of Thin Air…

Days 2 & 3 saw heated competition for both Riptide teams.
In the final games in pool play Saturday, September 15: Riptide I lost to Ft. Lauderdale Blue Ocean Press 12-19; and Riptide II lost to Toronto Mounties White 6-47. That set up the seedings for the knock-out rounds of the tournament. Riptide I was seeded #6 in the B Division; Riptide II was seeded #11 in the C Division.

Both teams had Saturday afternoon knockout games. First, Riptide II faced the Boston Brawlers and were shut out 26-0. Then Riptide I faced the Philadelphia Revolution and eked out a win 27-26 and advanced in pool play.

Sunday morning, the Riptide I faced off against the Motor City Hitmen of Detroit. It was a smash-mouth game with injuries and tempers flaring! The game was close and a late pick-6 makes it look less so. The Riptide I lost 19-30 and were knocked out of the tournament.

Sunday afternoon games were for final placement seedings. The Riptide I team received a forfeit from a banged up Houston Red team and therefore finished in 5th place of 22 teams in the B Division. The Riptide II team played against the Phoenix Bad Hombres and were soundly beaten (watch the videos here) and finished in last place in the C Division.

We had a fun tournament. Click photos below to enlarge.
