2017 Game 8: Hombres 37, Packers 24

Game 8 of the HIGFFL 2017 regular season is a rematch between the Nasty Hombres in red and the Green Gay packers in green. Here’s a play-by-play:

The Hombres start the game with catches from Dayne and Kiersten. QB Michael runs for a first down and Dayne gets a catch on the 1 yard line, de-flagged by Packer Gan. The Packer defense stands and 3 plays later it's 4th and 1 on the 1. A Michael to Rob catch deep in the end zone is good and the extra pint to Dayne succeeds. Hombres 7, Packers 0.

The Packers QB David makes throws to Bryant, Bradley, and runs himself for 10 then a throw to Jacqui for the TD. Extra point fails. Hombres 7, Packers 6.

On 4th and short the Hombres QB makes an errant throw and Packer Bradley catches the bobbled pass and brings it downfield to the 20. Gan catches a 10 yard pass and there next play the QB runs it for a TD. Extra point is no good. Hombres 7, Packers 12.

The Hombres have a quick offense and in four plays they're in the endzone with a Kiersten catch and Rob catches for the extra 2. Hombres 15, Packers 12.

The Packers score on the first play from scrimmage. David to Bryant and he runs down the sideline. Extra points are no good. Hombres 15, Packers 18. Less than a minute in the first half.

With 11 seconds to go in the half, the Hombres are on the 25. QB Michael barrels down to 18. 3 seconds to go on 4th and 3 and Michael lobs a throw to Dayne (great catch) in the end zone. Extra points are good. The score at the half: Hombres 23, Packers 18.

The second half opens with 4 and out by the Packers and the Hombres get the ball at the 15. A Dayne grab puts the Hombres in scoring position and a throw to the back of the end zone and a catch by Rob gives 6 more to the Hombres. Extra points are good. Hombres 31, Packers 18.

The Packers are vying for a comeback, but the Hombres' Rob intercepts the Packer's throw. The Hombres QB scampers for 10 and are threatening to score on the 11 yard line. A penalty puts them closer and Kovy makes the catch for 6 to put the game out of reach. Extra point is no good. Hombres 37, Packers 18.

The Packers drive gallantly to try to score, but the Nasty Hombres Rob is in the mix again with another interception. 6:30 to go. The score remains Hombres 37, Packers 18.

Hombres catches from Mark and Lisa move the ball, but a deep throw by QB Michael to Clay is intercepted by Packer Bryant. So the Pack has a chance to close the gap in the score.

The two minute warning finds the Packers with the ball at the 22 yard line, threatening to score. Dean is in as the Green team's QB and runs for a gain. Jacqui rushes for the first down to the 6. Now 1:22 remains. And Bryant makes a short catch and is in for the TD. Extra points are no good.

Final Score: Hombres 37, Packers 24. Thx to all players, referees and spectators.
