2017 Game 11: Packers 44, Spiders 12

Here’s a play-by-play of HIGFFL regular season game 11 between the Packers and the Spiders:

The game opened with the Spiders throwing three incomplete passes then kicking into the wind to the Packers. The Green team got the ball at the 27 and runs from and Bryant and Dean put the ball inside the 10. A bullet throw from QB Dean to Bryant is a TD. Extra point is no good. Packers 6, Spiders 0.

The Spiders pick up their first first down on a toss and scramble up the sideline by Jay. Then, a spectacular leaping catch by Michael L. put the Spiders in green territory. But the next pass was an interception (Gan). The Packers, however, cannot move the ball and kick to blue. The wind-assisted kick put the ball on the 5 yard line. The Spiders will try to get some offense going. Score is still Packers 6, Spiders 0.

Spiders pick up their first touchdown when Kelsey twists his way through the green defenders and runs up the sideline for a 45 yard score. Extra point, no good. 6-6.

For the next series, green gets the ball moving, but an interception by Spider Reyn gets the ball back for blue. Michael L. makes another catch for a first down and with 2 minutes to go, blue has the ball and a first down at midfield. Spider QB Andrew scrambles to the 25. A few incomplete passes and a penalty make the Spiders send up a Hail Mary. The ball is bobbles by Spider Michael L. and picked off by Packer Gan (2nd interception of the half). Two plays later, Spider Michael L. picks off a Packer pass. Blue has the ball at their 15 with 24 seconds to go. Jay scrambles for 10 yards. 12 seconds to go. Another interception: as time expires, Packer David catches and runs the ball in for 6. Extra point is no good. Halftime score: Packers 12, Spiders 6.

The second half starts and in 2 plays, the green team scores. Dino picks up 10, then David scores on a 50 yard run. Extra point, no good. Packers 18, Spiders 6.

The Spiders next play is an interception by Bryant. The Packers have the ball at the Spiders 10. A flag guarding penalty sets them back 5, but a shoestring catch by Dino gives green 3rd and short. A catch by Bryant gives the Pack first and goal. Three plays later- Phil's leaping catch is a TD. Extra point is good. Packers 25, Spiders 6.

The next series the blue team moves the ball to midfield but on 4th and short, the QB threw a TD that was called back because he was past the line of scrimmage when he threw. Green gets the ball, three incompletes -and goes for it on 4th. A near interception is incomplete. Blue ball. Jön catch and run for 20 and a defensive holding penalty puts the Spiders on the 15. Jay is the Spiders QB and Michael L. pulls one in at the 3. Jön carries it inches short of the goal line. Jay runs it in on the next play. Extra points, no good. Packers 25, Spiders 12.
